Q200-based cards provide 14.4 Tbps per slot with 36x 400G ports. The newest P200-based cards push to 51.2 Tbps per NPU with native 800GbE and line-rate MACsec. All line cards support flexible breakout, routed optical networking with ZR/ZR+ DCO optics, and are hot-swappable across 8800 chassis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which line card families are available?
Three families: P100-based (88-LC1 series), Q200-based (88-LC0 series), and P200-based (88-LC2 series), each with multiple port density and speed options.
Can different generations coexist?
Q200 line cards coexist with Q100 and the 88-LC1-36EH P100 card. P200 line cards support mix mode with Q200. IOS XR provides NPU compatibility mode configuration.
What route processor is needed?
P100 and P200 line cards require the 8800-RP2 and FC1 fabric cards. Q200 line cards work with both RP and RP2 and all fabric card generations.
Do all line cards support MACsec?
Not all. The 88-LC0-36FH-M, 88-LC1-52Y8H-EM, and 88-LC2-36EF-M include MACsec capability. The 88-LC0-34H14FH supports MACsec on 16 of its 100G ports.
